Data Security and Member Privacy
At VaultStreet we take your security and privacy seriously. Signing up for our service is simple and secure - all we require is a valid email address, a password, and your zip code. We have built our service to protect the security of your personal information and your financial documents.
- Providing mechanisms for secure login
Each user has a unique, secure login and password combination, using a valid email address and a private, encrypted password. User names - your valid email address - can be searched by our Customer Service Representatives, but no one at VaultStreet can access your VaultStreet password because it is encrypted. That’s why if you forget your password we ask you to go to a secure login page to create a new password.
- Offering authentication of all parties involved - both those sending
and receiving documents
We make every effort to ensure the authentication of users as well as documents and their sources. We employ a number of methods, including email and telephone verification, that help in the process of authenticating users to each other, and authenticating documents to their sources.
- Providing encryption of documents in transit or in storage
To guarantee your privacy, VaultStreet uses 128-bit SSL encryption technology, the best practice in the financial services industry, in its web-based communications with users and in the transit of financial documents. Your personal and financial information is stored on a secure portion of our VaultStreet servers. Documents are stored using the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), the de facto standard used by governments and financial services agencies.
- Allowing users to share access to financial documents with trusted
parties, and enabling users to limit that access
VaultStreet employs 128-bit SSL encryption in its web-based communications with our users, and when documents are in transit between multiple parties, such as a bank or financial planner to a consumer. You control who has access and for how long.
Important points about sharing and storage of documents
- Your documents are encrypted and stored in our secure data center
- Documents are never attached to communications or transmitted in the clear.
- Users view their documents using a web browser with 128 bit SSL encryption.
- All communications with our users take place over a secure channel.
- Your documents are stored on our system and only made available to you
or your trusted advisors who are registered in our system and given permission
by you, the document owner.
- Providing physical security for documents stored in our system
VaultStreet operations are located in a secure environment with round-the- clock monitoring. Access to servers requires multiple levels of authentication, including biometric (hand print) procedures and identity authentication.
- Securing your account numbers and passwords
When you sign up for VaultStreet you are signing up for convenient, automatic collection of financial documents from many sources. Your VaultStreet User Name is always encrypted. Your VaultStreet password is one-way encrypted to prevent us from deciphering your VaultStreet password. To achieve automatic collection, we encrypt and store your financial institution account numbers and account passwords using AES encryption.
- Providing state of the art firewalls
All VaultStreet firewalls are located in a controlled data center environment. All data and access to the VaultStreet servers are filtered by perimeter firewalls before reaching any Web servers. An additional level of firewalls protects the Application and Database servers.
- Auditing and inspecting our operations continuously
Our security practices and architecture are audited and inspected by security experts.
- Reducing vulnerability
Even if your home firewall is breached, your financial documents are still secure on VaultStreet servers, which are located in a secure, offsite data center. We ensure the safety of your data with backup and offsite storage of archived, encrypted data. In addition, comprehensive, tested disaster recovery plans ensure your documents are protected in the event of a disaster at our primary data center.
